During these periods I learned some
relevant and useful information about adolescents in relation to their
cognitive, emotional, and personal developement. First, I learned something
about the adolescents' brain which is a work in progress. Since significant
changes in the activity, anatomy and neurochemistry of the brain are happening
during adolescence, which means that the brain is growing and making more
connection between cells for a better brain functioning. Second, in relation to
the ability of adolescents towards learning I figured it out that they
have more gray matter in their brains, which is something that allows them to
learn more things in an easier and faster way. Third, the identity development
is related to some different ways on how the self, identity, emotion, and
personality affects adolescents. In here, I learned that adolescents are
passing through a big process where they are trying to find their self-identity
and sometimes this can have negative effect inside the classroom; that is why I
learned in class some concrete techniqus to teach adolescents and one of this
is to make them feel that they are always part of the class, try to asign them
some roles, have them work in teams, and make from the class content something
useful and interesting for them while using the target language.
